Celebrating our 55th year of nurturing community philanthropy, the Northwest CT Community Foundation (NCCF) is pleased to present this update of Where We Are Now and Where We Are Headed, our 2017 Demographic Report that highlighted local population trends and statistics in employment, housing and healthcare in our NWCT communities.
The 2017 Report and other community education reports on homelessness, food insecurity, child wellbeing, gender inequality, and opioid addiction. NCCF’s hope is that this update serves as a tool for municipal planning and
policymaking and that it enables our local nonprofits to more effectively meet the evolving needs of our region.
By understanding the current and future demographic landscape, local stake holders, businesses, and nonprofit leaders can be better prepared for the projected changes in our region’s composition and position our communities to proactively address those changes.
For our part, NCCF is committed to building meaningful philanthropic strategies with the knowledge we accrue from our research. These reports enhance our deep understanding of the communities we serve and provide direction in the development of our funding priorities. As you explore the data on the following pages, we invite you to consider how this information might influence your role in community wellbeing, and inspire partnerships that foster a more resilient, inclusive, and dynamic region capable of adapting to change and capitalizing on opportunities for growth
